Lincoln, situated in the East Midlands region of England, is a charming and historic city that’s home to several landmarks that attract tourists from all over the world. Lincoln Castle, one of its most notable attractions, is a well-preserved Norman castle dating back to the 11th century. Guests can explore the castle and its extensive grounds, walk around the walls and climb the tower, and visit the Victorian Prison within the castle—which until recently was used as a working prison.

Lincoln Cathedral can be seen from miles around and dominates the city’s skyline. The cathedral is one of England’s finest examples of Gothic architecture, and it’s huge, with over 80 stained glass windows. The cathedral was used for the filming of many films including The Da Vinci Code and is said to be one of the most haunted buildings in the country. There are also many historic houses to visit in Lincoln, including the 12th-century Bishop’s Palace and the Georgian House Museum, which showcases life in the city during the Georgian era. Lincoln is also home to the delightful Steep Hill. This street has been named the 'best street in Britain,' and for good reason. Its steep incline provides a charm all of its own as it winds slowly upwards to the cathedral quarter.

In addition, the city is also home to several festivals throughout the year, including the Lincoln Christmas Market which takes place in December. It is one of the largest outdoor festive markets in the country, and if you’re lucky enough to be in the city for it, you’ll be treated to Christmas stalls and a range of seasonal entertainment. Lincoln is a fantastic destination for any history buff or traveler looking for a slice of traditional English charm and architecture.
