Besenova is a town located in the Liptov region of Slovakia, known for its natural hot springs and beautiful scenery. The town is situated in the picturesque valley of the Váh river and is surrounded by the Low Tatras and the Veľká Fatra Mountains, providing ample opportunities for hiking, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
The thermal park is the main attraction of Besenova, consisting of 11 outdoor pools and five indoor pools, each with a different temperature and designed for various purposes. The hot springs are rich in minerals such as calcium, magnesium, and sulfur, and are said to have therapeutic properties, particularly beneficial for treating skin and joint problems. In addition to the hot pools, the park also offers several water slides, saunas, and wellness treatments.
Besenova has a rich history dating back to the Middle Ages when the town was settled by German colonists. However, it was not until the 19th century that the hot springs were discovered, and the first spa facilities were built. During the communist era, the thermal park was developed into a modern tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over Europe.
In recent years, Besenova has become a popular destination for families, couples, and adventure-seekers alike. In addition to the thermal park, the town offers various cultural and historical attractions, including the Liptov Museum and the ruins of a medieval castle. Visitors can also explore the nearby villages, each with its unique architecture and traditions.
