The Galleria

The Galleria is one of the largest and most popular shopping areas in Houston, Texas, located in the Uptown area. It opened in 1970 and has since been expanded to accommodate over 375 stores, ranging from high-end luxury brands like Gucci and Louis Vuitton to more affordable options like Forever 21 and H&M. The area also boasts over 30 dining options, an indoor ice rink, a full-sized indoor basketball court, and a children's play area.

Aside from its size and impressive array of retail and dining options, The Galleria is also known for its unique architecture. The original complex, designed by Gensler, utilized a diamond-shaped pattern on the exterior and a distinctive glass atrium in the center of the mall. In 2003, the mall underwent a $125 million expansion, which added a third wing and an additional parking garage. The expansion was designed by Jon Jerde, who created a new entrance on the north side of the mall and incorporated elements like water features and large skylights into the design. In addition to shopping and dining, The Galleria also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, such as fashion shows, charity events, and book signings.
