American Museum of Natural History

The American Museum of Natural History is one of the largest and most visited museums in the world. Established in 1869, it has over 33 million specimens and artifacts in its collection and receives over five million visitors annually. The museum is famous for its many exhibits, including the Rose Center for Earth and Space, which features the iconic Hayden Planetarium, a 94-foot model of a blue whale, and the “Hall of Biodiversity” showcasing the immense diversity of life on our planet. Additionally, the American Museum of Natural History’s many temporary exhibits, from dinosaur fossils to the science behind climate change, make it a great destination for tourists of all ages. For those interested in history and pop culture, the museum was also featured prominently in the movie “Night at the Museum,” which both increased the museum’s popularity and prompted some annual visitors to (jokingly) ask if the exhibits come to life after closing time. The museum is also located in a bustling area of Manhattan with many other landmarks nearby, including Central Park, the Guggenheim Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
