ABQ BioPark Zoo in Albuquerque

ABQ BioPark – Zoo is a popular location for tourists visiting Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is situated on a 64-acre land which houses over 900 animals and 200 species from around the world. The zoo is open daily, except on major holidays, and attracts over half a million visitors annually. It is divided into themed sections which represent different habitats, such as Africa, Asia, and Australia. Visitors can explore the diverse habitats of animals such as elephants, rhinos, zebras, giraffes, tigers, lions and koalas. A major attraction of the zoo is its dragon exhibit, which showcases the most extensive collection of Komodo dragons in the world. The ABQ BioPark opened in 1927 with a small collection of animals and has since expanded into a world-class zoo. Over the years, it has also been involved in international animal conservation programs and research efforts.

ABQ BioPark – Zoo also offers various interactive activities, including elephant and giraffe feeding, and camel rides. There is also a children's playground, a petting zoo and several cafes and food stalls. The zoo is part of the larger ABQ BioPark complex which includes an aquarium, botanical garden and Tingley Beach. Visitors can purchase combo tickets that allow entrance to all these attractions at a discounted rate. Nearby landmarks include the Petroglyph National Monument, which is a 17-mile stretch of volcanic rock, containing historical petroglyphs, documenting the presence of Native American tribes in the area. Another notable attraction is the Sandia Peak Tramway, which offers panoramic views of the city from a height of over 10,000 feet.
