Constructed in 2003, The Harris Theater has become one of the leading cultural institutions in the city of Chicago. The theater was designed by the Pritzker Prize-winning architect Rafael Viñoly and was named after its primary donor, Joan W. and Irving B. Harris. One of the unique features of the Harris Theater is its commitment to nurturing young artists and developing new works. The theater hosts an annual showcase for emerging dance artists, as well as a commissioning program for new works by leading choreographers.
